The 14 Hour Comedy Challenge is a one day competition. Each challenge focuses on a different area of comedy: video sketch, live sketch, or stand-up comedy.  Participants will be given criteria at 8:00AM the day of the competition and all criteria must be incorporated into their video sketch, live sketch, or stand-up routine.  Participants will submit their video or perform that night at 10:30PM.  The audience picks the winner.  The winner gets a $100 cash prize and featured on the home page of the Comedy Spot web site.

Video Sketch Challenge Rules

  1. The Comedy Spot will post a video at 8:00AM Pacific Time on January 28, 2012 listing the criteria that must appear in your video sketch.
  2. All criteria must be incorporated into your sketch.  All teams will receive the same criteria.
  3. Videos must be less than 5 minutes long.
  4. Write, film, and edit your video sketch the day of the competition.
  5. Only original sketches – any topic.  You may not add criteria to an already existing video sketch.
  6. Participants must bring a copy of your video sketch on a flash drive to The Sacramento Comedy Spot between 9PM and 10PM the day of the competition. Or email a copy of your sketch to: laugh@saccomedyspot.com  Videos will not be accepted after 10PM.  No exceptions.
  7. Videos must be in .mov or MPEG-4 format.
  8. By submitting a video you give The Sacramento Comedy Spot permission to post it on the Comedy Spot web site and/or YouTube.
  9. Your video will be screened on January 28, 2012 starting at 10:30PM.  The audience will pick the winner.
