The Sacramento Comedy Spot grew out of the success of a sketch comedy group, Free Hooch Comedy Troupe, that performed in Sacramento from 2001-2006.
In 2005, we opened our training center on Broadway called the Sacramento Comedy Spot.
In 2006, The Sacramento Comedy Spot opened to the public for weekly performances.
In 2007, we changed our focus to long form improv shows like Anti-Cooperation League and created new sketch comedy shows like Sacramento Royal Navy.
In 2007, the readers of the Sacramento News and Review voted Sacramento Comedy Spot Sacramento’s 3rd favorite comedy club.
In 2008, the readers of the Sacramento News and Review voted Sacramento Comedy Spot Sacramento’s Best Comedy Club.
In 2009, The Sacramento Comedy was featured on the front page of Ticket inside The Sacramento Bee, in the Sacramento News & Review and in Sacramento Magazine.
Our first Harold team was created.
We started offering Stand-up Comedy Classes by instructor John Ross.
On November 6, 2009 we opened at our new location inside the MARRS building at 1050 20th Street, Suite 130, Sacramento, CA 95811.
We started having shows Thursday through Sunday.
We added an advanced stand-up comedy class and Improv 3 class to our curriculum.
In 2010 we had our first national act, Neil Hamburger, at the Comedy Spot.
We cast two Harold teams and have a weekly Harold Night on Wednesday’s at 9PM.
We started having shows Tuesday through Sunday.
We brought on Keith Lowell Jensen to serve as booking agent for the Sacramento Comedy Spot.
We added our new Improv 1 Intensive class and added ACL performer Ted Samson as an improv instructor.
