Introduction to Stand up Comedy for Kids

Course overview
Class clowns, comedy fans, actors or just generally funny folks who think they have what it takes to step onto the Stand Up Comedy stage will learn the basics of stand-up comedy and develop a 5 minute comedy set. This class will also help students gain confidence and help develop public speaking skills. Students will also have a good understanding of microphone technique.
General approach
Students should be between 12 and 16 years of age and have good writing and language skills. Student should understand that our focus is on “Clean” comedy class. If older students wish to work on blue material there are adult classes available. All material should be PG rated for use in this course.
The First Day:
Students should come to class on the first day with a short, clean joke that they can tell in front of the class. It does not have to be a joke that they wrote. Also bring a notebook and pen.
