Sacramento Comedy Spot is Sacramento’s first comedy theater to feature all varieties of comedy and the largest comedy school in Northern California. It serves as a “third space”—beyond home, work, and school—where people can connect, escape the pressures of adulting, explore their creativity, and celebrate one another’s diverse backgrounds and stories. The Comedy Spot is a community that embraces otherness and strives to bring people together through classes, shows, and events like Femme Fest and Weird Strange Bizarre Comedy Fest.
The Comedy Spot puts our fans first by creating quality shows, eliminating fees, and eliminating the two item minimum. The Comedy Spot also offers several FREE programs, including the Helix program for up-and-coming improvisors and Diversity Improv Space workshops for groups historically underrepresented in comedy, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and womxn communities.
Comedy is resistance. Laughter is medicine. The Comedy Spot is comedy for the people.

I came to the Comedy Spot as a student and became a super fan. Not only did I learn comedy fundamentals in classes, but I ended up joining a vibrant community and finding a creative outlet all in one go (and as an adult)! Now the funniest people I know are also my friends. This place means a lot to me.
I’ve been involved with the Comedy Spot since 2019, and I can honestly say I’m continually inspired by the vibrant community here. Being part of this essential third space has led to life-long friendships and provided a wonderful outlet for creativity and self-expression.
I’m lucky enough to witness firsthand how the scholarship program has created opportunities, empowering the recipients to thrive in their craft, gain confidence, and provide an essential community to connect with others. Having the support of an entire community of people is life-changing.

At the start of 2025, I promised myself I’d get back into performing after taking an extended break during the pandemic. A few friends who were involved with the Sacramento Comedy Spot pushed me to check out classes, and I ended up finding out about Improv 101. I was excited but also worried about the cost, then I heard about the Diversity Scholarship. That scholarship made it possible for me to take that first class, and honestly, it changed everything. Improv 101 helped me shake off the rust, relearn the basics, and discover the Helix program. From there, I kept going from 101 to 201 to 301, and then I auditioned for Helix. By September of 2025, I was back on stage performing in not only the Helix program but also with “Shoes-Off,” which features an all-AAPI Improv cast.
None of this would have happened without the Diversity Scholarship. It opened the door for me and gave me the confidence to jump back in. If you’re thinking about improv, this scholarship can make it happen.

Sharing Diverse Stories
Our hope is that when patrons or students attend a show or class, they see themselves represented. The Comedy Spot also provides scholarships for classes to students who have been historically underrepresented.

Femme Fest
Femme Fest is a comedy festival dedicated to uplifting all women, nonbinary, and trans comedians, creating a stage where femme voices thrive.We provide a platform for femme comedians to be seen, be heard, and take center stage.
Weird • Strange • Bizarre Comedy Fest
This is comedy in its weirdest, wildest, and most “wait… what?” form. Our regular Comedy Spot performers have 25 minutes per show to unleash their strangest, most experimental ideas—things they’ve always dreamed of doing on stage, but probably shouldn’t.
